On June 16, Jeffrey A. Leerink, chairman and CEO of Leerink Partners and vice chair of the Harvard Medical School Board of Fellows, hosted a small gathering at Leerink Partners in Boston for Harvard alumni and friends of industry.
During the event, HMS Dean George Q. Daley, AB ’82, MD ’91, PhD, delivered brief remarks and introduced Mark Namchuk, PhD, the Puja and Samir Kaul Professor of the Practice of Biomedical Innovation and Translation and executive director of therapeutics translation at HMS. Namchuk shared updates about the HMS Therapeutics Initiative, which establishes a comprehensive pipeline from basic science research to therapeutic development, and outlined how the School partners with industry and hopes to evolve and expand this kind of partnership.
The reception was timed to coincide with the BIO International Convention, a major annual event for the biotechnology sector held this year at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. The event attracted 21,600 registrants, including scientists, executives, investors, entrepreneurs, and policymakers.
